Our hat-trick – 3 new hotel barges for 2016

This one’s a hat-trick of great new hotel barges and we’re thrilled to add them to our collection. Hot on the heels of 6 other new hotel barges we added recently, we know you’re going to love this trio from bow to stern!

Anjodi

Hotel barge AnjodiTraditional with a capital ‘T’ – think polished brass and rich wood panelling in this lovely barge, cruising the Canal du Midi and the Languedoc area. She’s also painted in traditional barge colours and we love her distinctive bright blue stripe and shiny red keel!

Life on board the Anjodi is all about relaxation. Below deck, on the comfy leather sofas – perfect for reading a book from our library or listening to music – and above deck, on the sun deck where you can lie back on the full recliners or take a soak in the heated spa tub as you watch the French countryside glide by.

The 4 cabins for eight guests offer comfortable accommodation and each comes with ensuite facilities plus air conditioning and heating for that extra comfort factor.

Highlights on the Anjodi’s route include vast landscapes of sunflowers and vineyards, against a backdrop of the spectacular Pyrenees and stop-offs at some of the gems on the historic Canal du Midi. Medieval Carcassonne is a must-visit as is the village of Pezenas with its associations with Molière. And of course, your own private wine tasting chez the Château de Perdiguier.

Wide tow paths along the way make for easy walking and cycling and the Anjodi comes prepared with 8 folding bicycles. How easy is that? Find out more.

L’Impressioniste

Hote barge L'ImpressionnisteA fine long hotel barge with all the right fixtures for a perfect get-away. Her Tricolour jaunty blue and white hull with red detail couldn’t be more appropriate because L’Impressioniste cruises through Cote d’Or in Burgundy country, considered by many to be the quintessential France.

Below deck, there are six cabins for 12 guests, all ensuite and offering spacious accommodation. And for that extra splash of luxury, the 2 junior suites are just perfect. The state rooms are comfortably fitted with plush black leather providing a modern contrast to the traditional wood panelling.

Up above, the sun deck has plenty of room for relaxation as you cruise through the delightful Burgundy countryside. The on-deck spa tub provides an ideal chill-out option.

When it comes to dining – above and below deck on this hotel barge – think gourmet. In keeping with the landscape, regional dishes – among the finest in France – are served with the best local wines. And seeing as local is Burgundy, you know how good they’ll be.

You also get the chance to try local specialities off board too. As L’Impressioniste takes you through the delightful Burgundy countryside she stops off at the main Burgundy domains so you can sample the real thing and in situ. Exploring is on foot – there’s a walking tour of Dijon – and by bike. Grab one of the bikes on board and discover riverside Burgundy from its tow paths. Find out more about L’Impressioniste.

Hotel barge RenaissanceTop of the range when it comes to hotel barges, this lovely boat is the latest addition to our Grand Luxe collection. And you’ll find luxury touches throughout from the spacious sun deck to the plush suite cabins below.

The Renaissance with her glossy white and blue exterior has a distinctive country living style with floral details in the window boxes and fresh flowers in the state rooms. Cabins are truly spacious (and we mean spacious – they average 250 square feet each!) with roomy ensuites and king-sized beds for 8 lucky guests.

Up on deck, there’s a lovely sun deck with full recliners and a spa pool for extra relaxation. The sun deck’s bow position means you get the very best river views here. And you can guarantee they’ll be stunning because the Renaissance cruises the Loire and the Yonne, taking you past rolling hills with lush meadows and cherry orchards dotted with picture-perfect villages and of course, dozens of majestic châteaux. You even get to visit the privately-owned Château de la Bussière.

The Grand Luxe experience extends to the dining – candlelit on-board dinners provide the perfect romantic touch and there’s a visit to one of the area’s Michelin-starred restaurants en route. All meals on board the Renaissance offer the best in local fare and each dish comes perfectly paired with a regional wine. Read more about the Renaissance.

So now you can see why we’re proud to welcome the Anjodi, L’Impressioniste and Renaissance to our collection of hotel barges. Which of the 3 will you be trying out first?
