Self Drive Hire Boating :: People, Pleasure and Preferences
Vacations and holidays are about a change of pace, getting away and doing your own thing – and what you do on your own boat during your week is entirely up to you. Relax and enjoy the ‘Essence of France’
For the two of you it’s a chance to spend precious time together, without friends, relatives, children or anyone else to see to. It’s a great opportunity to be free from all timetables, and choose just for yourselves how far to travel, what to see and do, where and what to eat. Freedom is what you will experience: loads of time to enjoy everything that France has to offer, just when you want, just how you like it.
Every family should have at least one boating holiday – there’s nothing quite like it – and the waterways of France are perfectly safe, even for first-timers. All the family will sleep well in comfy beds and rise in the morning, ready for coffee, croissants and a full sunny day: cruising along, mooring when and where you want, exploring the nearby towns and villages, finding a fabulous market to buy provisions, or an authentic café or restaurant for supper, taking in activities for the kids (cycling, canoeing, horse-rising etc) – while others in the family can sunbathe, read, sample the local wines, play boules, sleep. Idyllic.
Friends love to play together and hire-boating appeals so much because there is always something to do, something new to share. Boating holidays are remembered forever because they stand out from the rest – providing new situations that bring fun and laughter all the way along. If your group has a shared interest – wine, history, architecture, wildlife – why not plan a trip together to find out what France has to offer?
For those of a certain age but still with enough ‘joie de vivre’ to relish a new experience, a self-drive hire-boat holiday is ideal. Firstly, go at your own pace: there’s no rush to be at certain place by a particular time, so if the mood takes you to moor at one spot then you can stay as long as you like. Secondly, there’s no physical hard work to do. The boats are easy to handle and the locks are mostly automatic, just steer in and tie up. Thirdly, the boats are easy to get on and off, fully equipped and the cabins are convenient and comfy. All your usual needs are catered for but you are free to relax and enjoy a wonderful, memorable vacation.
Dogs are welcome too. Many dogs are part of the family and here’s one holiday that they won’t have to miss. Many dogs love water and they’ll get great exercise running along the towpath, too.
