The Minister for Tourism, Sylvia Pinel, recently highlighted the benefits to France of ‘tourisme fluvial’ – waterways tourism.

Madame Pinel, one of France’s youngest government members, at a meeting at Saint-Léger-sur-Dheune (Canal du Centre) promoted the tangible benefits that were experienced by shops, crafts-people and the local population. “France does not sufficiently recognise the significance of waterway tourism” she said.
